Salokin Photo Art is the innovation of Devon based photographer Nick Webb. For those of you who haven't already spotted the word play, 'Salokin' is 'Nikolas' spelt backwards.
As part of Nick's overall passion in art and design, he has had a love of photography since he was a child. He even did a photography course many years ago where he was developing and printing his own images from film. How different things were back then!
Despite gaining his Btec Diploma in Graphic Design, he took these creative skills along a different route, into the construction industry. He eventually established and ran his own successful professional landscaping business, undertaking garden design and build.
Whilst it was a real pleasure to spend most of his working time outdoors, he always had a 'niggle' that he was meant to be utilising his creative side more. Then one day he was involved in an accident, which meant he had to take months off work. This changed his path forever. It was during this time that he had an epiphany and realised that life was just too precious and short not to pursue your dreams. And there began the seed of Salokin Photo Art.
Over the next few years he had invested much time and resources into building his equipment and portfolio. He has spent many hours honing his skills, attending workshops, entering competitions, taking and evaluating literally millions of images.
He has a fantastic ability to capture so much raw emotion in an instant, and he is constantly experimenting with new ideas. He has a wonderful instinctive 'eye' for what works with an image. As his skills have developed he has been awarded with his general diploma in photography, had several competition wins and his work has even been selected for international competition entry.
As he continues to strive for improvement, and is constantly developing his skills, he is in the process of working towards his Licentiate for the Royal Photographic Society.
